5 Video Strategy Must Haves
Feb 03, 2020What is a video strategy? And what do I need to include in one? Quite frankly you shouldn’t be making video content at all for your business without a strategy or plan in place. A quality video strategy is the backbone of quality video content.
So, What Is A Video Strategy?
Well, whether you’re just starting out, or you’ve been making video for ages, you need a roadmap outlining what it’s all for, where you’re going and how you’ll measure success.
This is a video strategy.
It doesn’t need to be incredibly detailed. It could just be a list of titles with bullet points to talk to. The important thing is that you have a good idea of how the content of your video content is going to align with the goals and mission of your company.
Now you know what one is, how do you go about putting a video strategy together?
Here are my 5 non-negotiables when it comes to putting together a video strategy:
1. A Publishing Schedule.
This will ensure your video strategy has legs, and will help keep you accountable in the production of the content.
2. A Mixture Of Short Video & Long Videos
The rise of social media has decreased our attention span as an audience. Be sure to include short-form videos (10-30 second in length). In this format, your audience can quickly view your message as they scroll through their news feed.
3. Tutorials & How-To’s
These are an awesome way to connect with your audience and showcase your industry knowledge. Start by listing out your FAQ videos and these will form the base of a video series.
4. Promotional Video Content
This could be in the form of a promotional video or case study video. Either way, you want to invest in a quality piece of video content to sit on your homepage which tells your audience:
- Who you are
- What you do
- Why you do it, and
- What that means for your clients.
5. Call To Action
One of the biggest mistakes I see businesses making when it comes to video content is not including a call to action at the end. How are you going to get ROI if you don’t instruct your audience to like, follow, visit or engage with your brand. Keep in clean, simple and easy for your audience to take action.
